Andorra - Travel Guide and Travel Info

Andorra is a small landlocked mountainous state situated in Southwestern Europe, and is on the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between France and Spain. Andorra raises its capital to the highest altitude in Europe of a thousand and twenty meters above sea level. Andorra la Verra enjoys a dominion view of the surrounding regions. The Andorran people speak the Catalan language but some European languages lie Spanish and French are also spoken. Andorra offers a wide range of tourist sites for its visitors and has been one of the major tourist destinations for millions of tourists around the world every year. 




Traveling to Andorra is mainly by road, and the country has a road network of about 279km. you can come in from Toulouse, France via the Envalira Tunnel near Pas de la Casa on the CG-2 road and from Barcelona, Spain on CG-1 road. Airline transport is not offered but tourists can take up helicopter flights from La Massana, Escaldes and Arinsal. They can also board trains I bordering European states that offer passenger-train transport to L’Hospitalet-pres-LÁndorre that is east of Andorra. 


With tourism as the main foreign exchange earner, Andorra carters well for its tourist. The country has numerous accommodation facilities ranging from hotels, apartments to resorts. There are also those made specifically for the winter season and are set near the ski trails where tourists can enjoy skiing along their snowy-sloppy landscape. 


Snow is Andorra’s most valuable attraction. The heavy winter is very conducive to many winter sports. Andorra is well-equipped with ski stations because it has a perfect condition for skiing. Pas de la Casa-Grau Roig, Soldeu-Tarter, Arinsal, Pal and Arcalís are the selections of ski centers to enjoy skiing. 


The Andorra Parliamentary site is a rich heritage site. The parliament building is established at a home that of a family that used to live in it in the late sixteenth century. The home was later obtained by the leading authorities in the early eighteenth century. Items to see in this parliament are its unique architectural qualities and the historic military equipment. 


The church at Santa Coloma is an old church and an important tourist attraction dating several centuries ago. It was initially built in the pre-Romanesque style before the twelfth century when it started to undergo minor improvements like the installation of the huge bell tower and the portico at its southern side. 

Visit one of Europe’s largest health spas, the Caldea Spa located at the Andorran Mountains region. This spa has large lagoons, may Jacuzzis, pools, Roman Baths, bubble beds, cascades and saunas that give clients the biggest welcoming experiencing while spending your leisure in Andorra. 


The beautiful hilltop perched the castle of saint Vicenc d’ Enlar stands at an altitude of over 1126 meters and overlooks the village of Santa Coloma. This magnificent structure was set up more than one thousand years ago as a settlement for the Urgell Counts. 


Andorra has three involving festivals celebrated in each month from July to August. These festivals are the Canillo Village Festival, Andorra la Vella Village Festival and the National Festival consequently. They are characterized by much music, dancing and performance of many Andorran traditional cultures in selected villages in Andorra.
