Pattaya, Thailand - Travel Guide and Travel Info

If you are looking for a great beach retreat, Thailand’s Pattaya city is the place to have it. With great entertainment options and golden beaches Pattaya has everything for a tourist. Pattaya is tourist city in Thailand, located on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand at about 165 km south east of Bangkok. The name Pattaya was derived from the march of Phraya tak and his army from Ayutthaya to Chanthaburi, which took place before the fall of the former capital to the Burmese invaders in 1767. Pattaya has a tropical wet and dry climate. 



Pattaya City is full of scenic attractions and unbelievable activities to keep you full of fun: 

The sanctuary of truth is a large wooden structure constructed in 1981 by the sea at Laem Ratchawet. It was inspired by the vision that human civilization has been achieved and nurtured by religious and philosophical truth. This is an important attraction with the city of Pattaya. 



Pattaya hill is a vantage point for the best bird’s eye view of the curved bay of Pattaya either in the day or at night. Also no the top of the hill there is a statue of Prince of Jumborn, the father of the Royal Thai Navy and the RTN Broadcasting station as well. Phra Tamnak Hill is another hill nearby. You can go up to its top to pay homage to the Buddha images enshrined here.



Sri Racha County is a thirty-minute drive north of Pattaya City. Here you will visit one of the best tiger zoos in a natural atmosphere where you can hold, feed and take photos with baby tigers. Watch the unimaginable co existence: a sow breast-feeding tiger cubs. Become friends with animals, both wild and domestic as you pet and feed camels, deer, elephants, donkey and especially the tiger cubs. You can also try out your accuracy at the shoot the target and feed the tigers. 


Pattaya Elephant Village is another, a must visit attraction for animal lovers. Circuses like shows are staged in which you will see elephants displaying forestry skills, playing football, and a parade of elephants decorated with ancient battle gear. The village also shows how wild elephants are captured and trained in the northeastern part of Thailand. To sum up a great experience are Elephant rides to the nearby woods. 



A visit to the Mini Siam will always add value to a holiday in Pattaya. Mini Siam is a miniature model village which celebrates the historical heritage of Thailand. It contains replicas of the most famous monuments and historical sites including the Prasat Hin Phimai, the bridge over river Kwai, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the Democracy monument. Also encompassed is the min world, a section were world heritage is displayed. This section contains models of the tower bridge of London, Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and Trevi Fountain. 



Fly Thailand, is the home of sport flying in South-East Asia and offers pilots and beginners of Gyroplane and Microlight flying a wide range of aircraft to enjoy. It is located about five kilometers east of Pattaya, at the Nongprue Airfield. Tourist can enjoy horseback ride from the Horseshoe Point "International Riding School" features pleasure and pony rides for beginners, riding lessons and "Art of Classical Riding" instructions, including dressage and show jumping. The Horse shoe point is located in Pattaya's green countryside. 


For beach volleyball lovers a floodlit beach volleyball court is located on Jomtien Beach, about a kilometer south of the Dongtan Police Box. The facility is also used for beach soccer and other beach sports. Burapa Pattaya Bike Week is Thailand's, and Southeast Asia's, biggest motorcycle event held in Pattaya each February. It draws motorcycle enthusiast from all over Southeast Asia and further abroad.
